We’ve had a lot of fun over the years reliving the memories of working with our couples on the best day of their lives with our annual BTS post! We’re pulling back the curtain to share our silliest, and most embarrassing moments of the year! Before we jump in though, we want to extend a HUGE heartfelt THANK YOU to every couple that allowed us to tell their story, whether through photo or film. It is genuinely an honor to be a part of such an intimate day, and we adore all our #tnclouples!
If you’ve missed our previous posts, you’ve GOT to catch up! ;)
We love starting the wedding day while the bride is in the hair chair by styling all the bridal details! It gets us in the zone and starts warming up those creative juices! Plus, who doesn’t want to photograph all the pretty things?!
We love it when a planner offers to help style! Shannon from Shannon Rose Events did an amazing job at Natalie + Zach’s wedding, and we were spoiled to photograph her styling work!
Sometimes getting out all the pretty things attracts flower girls! They can’t help it! ;)
One of our favorite things about doing full day coverage is that it allows us to capture so many personal moments like writing letters and exchanging gifts without rushing you!
If you’ve been following our BTS posts, you know Tyler is my go-to stand in “bride,” and he never leaves me hanging when I need a quick light check for the prep space.
No I promise I’m not peeking up her dress, I’m putting her mic on. Most of the time Tyler isn’t in the room while I do this, so we haven’t shared many photos of it, but I’ve been mic’ing our brides for years! It’s one way we ensure we have clear, reliable audio when the bride is not near the groom’s mic.
Don’t worry. If you need an extra pair of hands to get the dress on, I’ve been known to jump in! ;) We got you.
Sometimes if the morning gets slow, Tyler likes to take the bridesmaids on a little surprise field trip! Haha jk, he was helping lead them in to the see the bride for their first look!
Want to know the real reason Tyler’s gotten so buff over the last year? He carries bouquets, bags and other random stuff (aka whatever Lindsey leaves behind on accident!)
Plus that gimbal is heavy, and he carries it all day!
He’s also an excellent veil tosser!
…provides exceptional cake security service…
“Copy that, the cake looks to be intact and secure.”
…and he’ll even deliver champagne to you in the morning!
We all know Tyler loves a good cake stabbing, but this year he decided to pass the baton and show our couples the best way to knife their cake.
Now this is a classic game that Tyler likes to play with the groomsmen called “Stand in a Line.” Sounds simple enough, but it’s a lot harder than you think!
Getting the groom in place for the first look apparently involved a staring contest for Tyler and Jerdal, haha. Looks like Jerdal won that one, look at that concentration!
“Okay girls, now put your hand out like this and pop that hip…”
We love seeing old couples and parents that are now guests at a wedding we’re working!
Sharon and Paul Leslie, (Meghan’s parents) were at Bailey + Zach’s wedding so of course we had to snatch a photo!
And speaking of past couples, Melissa and Thomas, who got married in 2014, were in Blair + Lewis’s wedding this year, which honestly could have never happened without them! These two lovebirds met AT their wedding! Cutest thing ever, am I right?
And we’re calling this, “Felt cute, might delete later!”
Weddings are hard work, so after all that bride standing in, veil tossing, champagne delivering, and cake guarding, sometimes you just need a cookie…
…or a tea break…
…or just some time to contemplate life.
You look good, boo. Now time to get back to work, haha! ;)
This was definitely one of the funniest moments of the year! During family photos, the sun starting shining directly onto the altar and ruining the photos. When I pointed this out, the wedding party jumped up and began blocking the light with whatever they could find, like these cushions from the groom’s suite!
If I squint at just the right angle, I can fit Jerdal in my hand!
“Lindsey, I think it’s time for you to take a random dance break.” – Tyler
“Hmmm, let me think about it…” – Lindsey
“Let’s do it!”
“Ok, I’m sorry, that was embarrasing.”
Being a photo/video duo means taking turns being the victim, I mean, stand-in for many light tests…
It takes true skill to really POP that elbow out, and get the mic stand nice and tight!
If you made it this far through the post, we hope you got a good laugh! We adored all our 2019 couples, and we’re equally excited to see what 2020 brings!
